A little bit about me
I'm Kristina Sambucci, a UX designer based in Philadelphia. I've always been passionate about design and how it can be used to improve the lives of people, which is why I enjoy crafting good UX so much. I find it incredibly satisfying to create digital experiences that are beautiful, functional and enjoyable to use. I believe that good design paired with technology can have a positive impact on people's lives, and a deep, empathetic understanding of an end user is the best way to to turn even the most brutal of pain points into bright spots.
When I'm not designing, I love to explore the outdoors, especially with my family. Water sports, like dragon boat and outrigger canoe, hiking, and camping are some of my favorite activities, and I'm always looking for new bodies of water to navigate or campsites to set up in. I'm also interested in sustainable interior design, and I find that decorating my home is a great way to express myself and do something "tangible" with my creativity. I'm always seeking out new challenges and experiences, both in my personal life and in my design work.
Experience
Senior UX Design Lead • 2022 - Current
UX Design Lead • 2020 - 2022
Senior UX Designer • 2018 - 2020
UX Designer • 2015 - 2018
Over nearly 10 years, I closely collaborated with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and end users to create tailored experiences through user research, workshops, wireframes, and interactive prototypes. I used a combination of cognitive science and modern design to deliver visually appealing, intuitive and engaging applications that met business goals and user needs, primarily those of healthcare, pharmaceutical, Medtech, and hospitality clients.
Graphic Artist • 2012 - 2015
As the sole operator of the Graphics Department, I handled all design and production requests for the base from concept to completion. I executed a wide range of graphic design and production tasks, including logo design, branding, publication design, vinyl signage, large-scale printing and custom signage, brass and acrylic engraving, framing and matting services, and trophy/plaque fabrication.
Graphic Designer, UI Designer • 2010 - 2012
I collaborated closely with subject matter experts and cross-functional teams to design fatigue risk management and sleep-optimization software applications in use on the International Space Station, for the Office of Naval Research, Federal Aviation Administration, and Department of Transportation. I created information visualizations and motion graphics to illustrate the effects of sleep deprivation on the human circadian rhythm, and worked with in-house counsel as a patent draftsperson to create illustrations and graphics for patent filings.
